Sabre Hotel Display Guidelines
Due to regulations issued by the United States Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control regarding Cuba, Sabre Holdings does not create and/or distribute Cuban hotel properties through the SABRE system at this time. The restriction applies for the Sabre GDS and all Sabre Holdings Companies, including Travelocity, WorldChoice Travel, GetThere, Travelocity Business and any other distribution sites.
The following document details the current display parameters that govern the Sabre system
hotel shopping display. It provides an explanation of how Sabre builds the HOT
display when properties are returned to the travel agent in response to specific
shopping entries.
The Sabre hotel system enables a user to search, shop, book, modify and cancel a hotel
reservation. The base criteria required for all searches are the destination,
the dates of check in and check out and the number of people in the party.
From time to time, Sabre may conduct tests and engage in modifications of the Sabre system
that temporarily modify the hotel display from what is outlined below. Sabre
Travel Network performs these tests to ensure the Sabre system is meeting the
needs of various customer groups. The tests may include, but are not limited to,
EDIFACT processing, messaging efficiency, hotel shopping, hotel booking, and
marketing tools.
Search requests are categorized into two types
A qualified search request: The user is able to
qualify the search using a number of qualifiers in addition to base search
criteria. Primary qualifiers include rate type, proximity to a point of
interest or town center, hotel chain code and property name and number.
Typically over 60% of hotel searches fall are qualified and over 70% of the
time the user is able to book from the first display. The system returns a
random display, which is probable or a preferenced display which is possible
when the traveler demonstrates certain characteristics.
An open search request: The user does not qualify the search over the base criteria. In this case the system may
return a random display, which is probable, or a preferenced display, which
is possible when the traveler demonstrates certain characteristics.
Display Management Principles
Sabre will publish system display parameters to
participating hotel supplier's in an open and timely fashion.
Sabre will provide 30 days advance notification
of system display parameter changes, these changes will be communicated via
a display parameter table on hoteleservices.sabre.com.
Display Parameters
The basic hotel availability request:
HOTDFW/5DEC-2NT2
HOT = FORMAT
DFW = City
/ = FORMAT
DATE = Check in date
2NT2 = Number of nights and adults
RESPONSE:
The display includes the chain code, direct connect participation indicator, hotel name,
distance from DFW and rate range. Sabre defaults to the currency code of the
country of the user.
Sabre returns four groups of hotels to this request:
- Geocoded hotels that are within 20 miles
(default) of DFW returned in random order.
- Below the geocoded hotels, Sabre returns non-geocoded
hotels that define themselves as a “City” location. They are also in
random order.
- Next down the screen Sabre returns a random
list of non-geocoded hotels that define themselves as an “airport”
location.
- Next comes “surrounding” locations.
- Next comes “rural” locations.
